5th Floor Pop-Up at A.G. Geiger

Robert Apodaca and Dolly Davis are bringing the magic back, folks! This is just the beginning of 5th Floor's rebirth and I am so happy to have my work included.

On display will be my two most current & contrasting lines of wares fresh from the kiln. One series is soft and satin with layers of brush strokes and carvings. The other collection is black and metallic, reflecting light upon throw lines and undulations. Both collections are initially formed in the same way, but have very different clay bodies and surface treatments.

This 5th Floor Pop-Up occurs in it's former home at the shiny new art book store A.G. Geiger, whose focus is on contemporary California artists. There will also be multiple gallery openings in Chinatown this night, so be prepared to walk around and enjoy the evening in it's entirety.

Communal Sgraffito Totem at 5th Floor Gallery!
Nov

7:00 PM19:00

Communal Sgraffito Totem at 5th Floor Gallery!

Come on down to 5th Floor Gallery in Chinatown to work with me on a Communal Sgraffito Totem!

Basically, the way it works is that I make a tall clay form, coat it with a contrasting liquid clay, & sit on my hands while you fine folks drink hot apple cider and have all the fun carving whatever the hell you want into it. Whatever. You. Want. Later, I will take it to the studio (currently my dining room table) & fill in any gaps that may be left with my own carvings. After it dries, I will fire it so that it becomes a forever ceramic totem.

When it is complete, the totem will find it's way back to the gallery & be available for purchase with 1/3 of the selling price being donated to a nonprofit ceramic educational program that is focused on kids. Why? Because kids are awesome & they need clay.

This project will be going on during 5th Floor Gallery's Holiday Craft Month kick-off party & it is also on a multi-gallery opening evening, so it's guaranteed to be a wondrous night throughout Chinatownland!

Entry Fee: FREE!
